The second annual meeting of CARR, the Citizens
Against Railroad Relocation, was held on January 25th at 7:00PM in the
Genoa-Hugo School Auditorium.
Ralph Snyder was our guest speaker. Ralph told us about the Trans-Texas corridor and how a group of 5 mayors and 5 school boards went to bat against giant TxDOT and won. They used coordination to get TxDOT to listen and stop the build of the Trans-Texas corridor through their small communities. We learned a great deal from Ralph on how we can use coordination.
At the meeting, membership fees were changed from $250 to $25 per vote. Everyone is encouraged to renew their memberships and talk to three other people and have them sign up as well.
Three board positions were up for re-election: Becky Thompson, Mike Reystead, and Michael Zimmerman. Becky and Mike both agreed to stay on another term if elected and Michael Zimmerman declined reelection. Jody Jolly was nominated from the floor and all three were voted in unanimously for another 3 years.
